Nigerian Rappers Bagged Trace Awards 2023 Honoring African Music

The Trace Awards is an awards franchise created by Dubai-based Trace, a global television and multimedia platform. The accolades aim to recognize African and African-influenced musicians across the continent and its diasporas.

Nigerian musicians Rema and Davido were the main winners at the Trace Awards 2023 held in Kigali, Rwanda, on Saturday.
Divine Ikubor, aka Rema, took home two awards, including the Song of the Year for his hit "Calm Down" and a tie for Best Global African Artist alongside South African singer Nomcebo.
Davido (David Adedeji Adeleke) was also a big winner, earning the titles of Best Male Artist and Best Collaboration for his song "Unavailable" with Musa Keys.
Apart from that, Nigerian singer Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, was honored with the Album of the Year award for his record "Love Damini."

Also winning in the Best Music Video category was Nigerian singer Yemi Alade, who took home the award for her "Baddie" video.
The Trace Awards also selected winners in the categories of Best Newcomer - Roseline Layo (Ivory Coast), Best DJ - Michael Brun from Haiti, Best Producer (Tam Sir, Ivory Coast), Best Dancer - Robot Boii (South Africa) as well as Best Performers of the Year separately by region of the world.
Musicians from Anglophone Africa, Francophone Africa, Lusophone Africa and the best artists from East Africa, North Africa, France and Belgium, the United Kingdom, the Caribbean, Brazil and the Indian Ocean are all honored separately at these awards.
