The second round of Ecuador's presidential election will be held on Sunday.
Ecuador held snap election on August 20, 2023, which ended in a stalemate between the two main candidates, Daniel Noboa of the liberal National Democratic Action and Luisa Gonzalez of the socialist Citizen Revolution Movement. Incumbent President Guillermo Lasso was eligible for a second term, but announced in May that he would not seek reelection.

Noboa, a 35-year-old newcomer to the Ecuadorean politics and the youngest presidential candidate in the country's history, pledged to focus on Ecuador's current security crisis, as well as improving the healthcare system and providing job opportunities for young people.
Gonzalez, on the other hand, has built her campaign on her party's solid political experience and intends to focus on women, single-parent families and transportation issues. Polls currently show Noboa leading by 7%.
