Chad to Provide Corridor for French Troops Leaving Niger: Reports

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Chad will provide a safe corridor for French troops exiting Niger, Chadian news portal Alwihda Info reported on Friday, citing Chadian Chief of General Staff Gen. Abakar Abdelkarim Daoud.

The Chadian armed forces will escort the French convoys from the Nigerien border to the international airport in N'Djamena and to the Cameroonian border, to the port of Douala, the report said.
The withdrawal of the 1,400 French soldiers and airmen deployed in Niger began on October 10, as requested by the new authorities of the African country. Earlier, Niger's National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP) confirmed that France would start withdrawing its troops from the African nation this week.
