Russian Upper House Likely to Announce Presidential Election Date in December

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The Federation Council, the upper house of Russia's parliament, is likely to announce the exact date of the presidential election in December, Andrey Klimov, the head of the Federation Council Commission on Protecting State Sovereignty, said on Sunday.

The Russian presidential election is scheduled for March 2024.
"The [presidential] election has not been announced. The Federation Council announces the election. Apparently, this will be done in December," Klimov told reporters.
He also said that the United Russia party would support Russian President Vladimir Putin if he decides to run for re-election.
