A Russian media outlet asked their readers what, in their opinion, are the most beautiful man-made and natural attractions of Russia. According to the results of the study, Baikal is considered the most beautiful natural place in Russia by 43% of respondents. This lake is one of the oldest and is one of the ten largest lakes in the world.
In second place are the Altai Mountains, which are among the oldest on the planet. It is believed that the name comes from the Mongolian word "altan", which means "golden". This place is the most beautiful according to 35% of respondents.
More than half of the respondents (64%) would like to visit the Valley of Geysers in the Kamchatka Territory, while 63% of respondents dream of going to Lake Baikal in the Irkutsk region. Talking about man-made attractions, 47% of people want to see the Kizhi wooden buildings in Karelia, and 35% want to visit the ghost town of Gamsutl in Dagestan.
