The Russian Defense Ministry said Wednesday that air defense systems shot down as many as 31 Ukrainian drones over the territory of the Bryansk, Belgorod and Kursk regions overnight.
"On the night of October 4, attempts by the Kiev regime to carry out terrorist attacks against facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation were foiled. Air defense systems on duty intercepted and destroyed 31 Ukrainian aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles over the territory of the Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk regions," the ministry said in a statement.
Ukraine has intensified drone attacks on military and civilian oblects in Russia since the beginning of Kiev's counteroffensive in summer. Despite a wide-scale information Ukrainian media campaign aimed at creating hype over the military operation, many officials, both in Russia and in the West have acknowledged that Kiev's counteroffensive failed to reach its goals.
