President Putin Meets South Sudanese Leader in Moscow to Discuss Bilateral Ties

Salva Kiir Mayardit, who has been serving as South Sudan's president since the country's independence in 2011, arrived in Moscow on Wednesday for a two-day visit and to have talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on a range of bilateral issues.

Sputnik Africa comes live as the Russian President Vladimir Putin is holding talks with his South Sudanese counterpart Salva Kiir Mayardit.
The leaders are expected to deliberate on the regional and international agenda, bilateral cooperation and, as the South Sudan presidency noted, the peace process in the country, preparations for presidential elections scheduled for 2024, and international sanctions and the arms embargo on Juba.
In August, the South Sudanese president said his country was interested in joining BRICS. Kiir Mayardit also said that his country was looking for help in developing its agriculture and industry.
