Egypt will hold a presidential election from December 10 to 12, announced the chairman of the country's National Election Authority, Walid Hassan Hamza.
"The final results of the presidential elections will be announced and published in the official newspaper no later than January 16th. Therefore, the entire election process will conclude before January 17th, 2024," he explained as cited by media.
The official noted that the winner will be declared on December 18, 2023.
According to the media, despite the fact that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi hasn't officially announced his candidacy, he is widely expected to be re-elected.
Abdel Fattah al-Sisi won the presidential elections in 2014, and in 2018, he was re-elected to a second term. In 2019, the presidential terms were changed from four to six years by Egypt's Parliament and allowed the current president to run for a third term.
