Ukraine complains about being unable to send grain to Africa, but at the same time is seeking access to central European markets, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Friday.
"What Ukraine is complaining about … [is] the non-operation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, that they cannot deliver grain to Africa. We offer a chance for Ukraine to deliver its grain to Africa through ensuring the transit facilities, but the Ukrainians would like to spread their grain on the markets of the central European countries, and we have to protect our national interests," Szijjarto told Sputnik.
Szijjarto underscored that the original grain deal did not provide for flooding the Central European markets with Ukrainian grain but for ensuring its transit to Africa.
Hungary is ready to defend its national interests should Ukraine proceed with suing Budapest and other countries over their ban on importing Ukrainian grain, the diplomat added.
