European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will participate in the Africa Climate Summit 2023 in Kenya's Nairobi this Tuesday.
Von der Leyen is expected to deliver a statement at the opening of the summit and attend a panel discussion on new global climate finance architecture together with Kenyan President William Ruto, Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo and Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres as well as other high-level politicians and officials.
Furthermore, von der Leyen, together with Ruto, will launch the Green Hydrogen Strategy and Roadmap for Kenya on the sidelines of the summit, aimed at developing Kenya's own green hydrogen industry with investment from the European Union.
The summit is co-organized by Kenya and the African Union Commission and is planned as the preparation for the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference, commonly known as COP28, which will take place in Dubai in late November.
