The Belarusian foreign minister met with the top Saudi diplomat and their Ecuatorial Guinean counterpart, as well as held a number of other important talks on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in South Africa on Wednesday to discuss various issues in bilateral relations, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said.
"[Belarusian Foreign Minister] Sergey Aleinik met with Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Faisal bin Farhan [Al Saud]. The parties have a rich agenda. Discussed intensification of political dialogue, schedule of visits at various levels, economy, trade," the ministry said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
During the talks, the two foreign ministers confirmed shared perspectives on key global issues. The agenda of their discussion also included prospects for visa facilitation, the ministry added.
Aleinik also held a separate meeting with his Ecuatorial Guinean counterpart, Simeon Oyono Esono Angue, during which the parties discussed intensification of bilateral contacts at various levels, expansion of the countries' legal framework and the situation in Africa, the ministry said in a tweet.
The top Belarusian diplomat also met with Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki to discuss prospects for boosting bilateral relations, and with State Minister for Economic Coordination of Angola Jose de Lima Massano to discuss various trade issues.
"On the agenda — supply of [Belarusian] products to Angola, including its high-tech segment, cooperation in agriculture [and] the expansion of legal framework," the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said.
The three-day summit of BRICS — the group uniting the world's largest developing economies, namely Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa — began in the South African capital of Johannesburg on Tuesday. In May, Belarus officially applied for membership in the group.
