Foreign Tourists Savor Summer 2023 by Enjoying Moscow's Marvels

Moscow is a city that offers a variety of attractions for visitors from different countries and cultures. After a sharp decline in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19 and political crisis over the conflict in Ukraine, the number of tourists in Moscow has risen by one million from the previous year, reaching nearly 18 million, according to Statista.

Most of these tourists come from countries that have not imposed sanctions on Russia or have maintained friendly ties with it, such as China, India, the Middle East and Africa. They are attracted by Moscow's historical and cultural landmarks, such as the Kremlin, St. Basil's Cathedral, the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts and the State Tretyakov Gallery.
However, there are some Western tourists who visit Moscow despite the challenges and risks they face when traveling to Russia.
They have to deal with limited flights and the difficulty of using foreign bank cards in Russia in order to enjoy the unique and memorable experience of discovering one of the world's most amazing and diverse cities.
Here are some photos of foreign tourists enjoying the summer of 2023 in the Russian capital taken by Sputnik photojournalists:
