Under the memorandums, the parties will exchange textual content in English, Arabic and French and implement projects aimed at developing a common information environment and promoting objective and professional coverage of events in culture, the economy, politics and the social sphere.
Following the signing ceremony, Paul Ilado, Head of Content at Radio Africa Group, said: “The opportunity to collaborate in terms of content generation is really a key thing now. Not a single newsroom is able to cover all parts of the world or every single story.
So for us it is a plus, and actually for Sputnik it is positive also to work with us, to be able to get some content from Kenya, from Africa in general, and for us to be able to access their content.”
This view is shared by Awa Sowe from Gambia News Agency: “There are so many things that are happening in Africa. And we can stand out to give Sputnik more things that are happening in Gambia. We are looking forward to working with you in different areas: public relations, media relations, capacity building for the staff and many other things.”
In addition, at the invitation of Sputnik, Ronald Lumumba, the son of Congolese independence fighter Patrice Lumumba, attended the forum’s media session on Pan-Africanism and Africa’s anti-colonial legacy together with experts and top managers from the leading African media outlets.
