Algerian PM: Our Ties With Russia Are Excellent, Will Continue To Boost Strategic Partnership

In mid-June, following talks in the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune signed a declaration on deepening the strategic partnership between the two nations, as well as a number of agreements in various fields.

Algerian-Russian relations are "excellent," Algerian Prime Minister Aimene Benabderrahmane told Sputnik in an exclusive interview on Friday, noting that "the visit of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune to Russia in mid-June was beneficial for both countries."
The official considered that Tebboune's visit was a symbol of renewed strategic partnership between the two nations.
The Algerian PM, who led his country's delegation to the Russia-Africa Summit held in the Russian city of St. Petersburg on July 27-28, stressed that the two governments in Algiers and Moscow will continue to move forward, as agreed by the two heads of state, to give more strategic depth to bilateral relations, which are currently in an excellent state.
"We are now experiencing a higher level of qualitative and strategic relations," said Benabderrahmane.

Within the framework of deepening the strategic partnership, a number of agreements in various fields were signed, including an agreement on cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes, an agreement on cooperation in the field of media, and a program of cooperation in the field of culture between the ministries of culture of the two countries.
The two countries also announced their intention to expand cooperation in hydrocarbon exploration and production, oil and gas processing, and petrochemicals.
In addition, Russia and algeria announced their intention to strengthen work in the field of military industry and technology, including the expansion of technology transfer partnerships.

The second Russia–Africa Summit

In conjunction with the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, the second Russia-Africa Summit was held on July 27-28 in St. Petersburg, Russia. It is considered the most important and largest event in Russian-African relations, as it aims to achieve a qualitatively new level of mutually beneficial partnership that meets the challenges of the 21st century.
The summit brought together African leaders and senior officials, as well as representatives of business, NGOs and academia to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between Russia and Africa.
The event called for strengthening comprehensive and equal cooperation between Russia and African countries in all its dimensions – political, security, economic, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian.
