The Second Russia-Africa Summit is being held in St. Petersburg, Russia under the motto "For Peace, Security and Development".
On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin held separate meetings at the Konstantinovsky Palace with Ethiopia's Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the head of the New Development Bank, Dilma Rousseff.
On Thursday, the Russian leader is continuing separate meetings with his African counterparts.
At the end of the event, there are plans to adopt a final declaration, which will determine coordinated approaches to the advancement of Russian-African cooperation and the deepening of interaction in the global arena.
The first such summit was held in Sochi in 2019 and resulted in the outlining of a number of goals and objectives for further cooperation between Russia and the African nations in such sectors as politics, security, economics, science, technology, culture, and humanitarian aid.
