Tunisian Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar will lead the country's delegation at the Russia-Africa Summit in St. Petersburg, the Tunisian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.
"On behalf of the President of the Republic Kais Saied, the Minister of Foreign Affairs […] Nabil Ammar will lead the Tunisian delegation, which will take part in the second session of the Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg on July 27-28," the statement said.
On Tuesday, the Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Oleg Ozerov said that 49 delegations of African countries and regional associations such as the African Union have confirmed their participation in the summit, while not ruling out that the list of participants will change up to the last moment.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki are expected to attend the summit.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the meeting is intended to adopt a package of intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements and memorandums with individual African states, as well as regional associations.
The Second Russia-Africa Summit is intended to encourage initiatives to strengthen comprehensive and balanced cooperation between Russia and African countries. Sputnik is a media partner of the event.
