Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi is being treated in a hospital recovering from a minor back procedure, Buthelezi's Private secretary Lyndith Waller told Sputnik Africa, dispelling reports of the traditional prime minister's critical condition.
"He [Buthelezi] is in hospital, but he is simply recovering from a small procedure to manage chronic back pain," Waller said.
Prince Mangosuthu Gatsha Buthelezi, born in 1928, currently serves as the traditional prime minister of the Zulu royal family.
He was Chief Minister of KwaZulu bantustan during apartheid and established the Inkatha Freedom Party in 1975. Buthelezi also served as Minister of Home Affairs from 1994-2004.
