The 47th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, commonly known as Saba Saba, is currently taking place in the Tanzanian capital, Dar es Salaam, with the participation of more than 179 foreign companies, according to local media reports.
The main objective of the two-week event, which is being held at the Mwalimu J. K. Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds from June 28 to July 13, is to promote trade and economic development in Tanzania and the wider East African region.
The exhibition provides a unique opportunity for companies to connect with potential buyers, explore business partnerships, and expand their market reach. It covers various industries including agriculture, manufacturing, technology, tourism, and construction.
This year's fair features the Saba Saba Expo Village 2023, where local and international investors can converge to exchange ideas and explore business opportunities. The event aims to attract investments that align with President Samia Suluhu Hassan's vision of driving economic growth and development.

The DITF has a rich history, dating back to its inception in 1963 by the Ministry of Trade and Cooperatives of Tanzania. It has been held annually since 1977 and was named after the date it was first held– July 7th (7/7), called Saba Saba Day in the Swahili language.
Over the years, the fair has established itself as a showcase for Tanzanian and East, Central, and Southern African products.
In addition to the exhibition aspect, the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair also features seminars, workshops, and conferences where experts share insights and knowledge on various topics related to trade, investment, and economic development.
These sessions provide valuable learning opportunities and facilitate discussions on critical issues affecting the business landscape in Tanzania and the region.
