Commemorating the Sacrifice: How African Muslims Celebrate Eid al-Adha
During the holiday, most Muslims sacrifice a cow or ram as a representation of Ibrahim's obedience at the feast.
Subsequently, the family eats around a third of their meal while the other third is shared among relatives and friends.
The remaining third is given to the needy and underprivileged.
The celebration of the holiday frequently occurs on the tenth day of Dhu al-Hijja, the Islamic calendar's twelfth and final month.
The date may differ between nations since the precise day is determined by moon observations.
