The representation of the International Alliance of BRICS Strategic Projects is about to be set up in Burkina Faso, the transitional president of the Burkina Faso, Ibrahim Traore, announced on social media, noting that Ibrahim Traore has been awarded the BRICS Medal.
The award was presented to him as part of a visit of a BRICS delegation to Burkina Faso to open a representative office of the bloc.
According to the communication department of the Burkina Faso presidency, relayed by the country's media, this decoration "salutes the determination and courage of Captain Traore."
The award ceremony took place during an audience with a delegation from the International Alliance of BRICS Strategic Projects, led by its President, Larissa Zelentsova.
She stated that the bloc represents the link between the BRICS countries and non-member countries. The meeting was devoted to BRICS cooperation and support for Burkina Faso.
"We are in the process of setting up a representation of the BRICS Alliance in Burkina Faso, which will work on certain sectors, and the main axes will be defined by the President of the Transition," she explained.
Cooperation between the BRICS group and Ouagadougou will focus on economic development, humanitarian aid and culture, she added.
This is not the first time that Burkina Faso's transitional president has met with BRICS leaders. On May 30, he met Ahoua Don Mello, the bloc’s representative in West and Central Africa.
