Putin Congratulates Russians on National Day

Russia Day is celebrated annually on June 12 and marks one of the most significant days in post-Soviet Russian history. The national holiday represents the country's democratic transition that began after the fall of the Soviet Union with the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Federation in 1990.

Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the Russian people on the occasion of Russia Day on June 12, saying that this holiday confirms the unity of the multiethnic people of the Russian Federation.

"Dear friends, colleagues. I congratulate you all on the occasion of Russia Day. This national holiday signifies centuries-long continuity of history, greatness and glory of our motherland, affirms the unity of our multiethnic population, our devotion to our country, our warm-hearted attitude to our beloved homeland," Putin said at a ceremony to present state awards.

The leader added that patriotism and responsibility for the fate of the motherland were bequeathed to the Russian people by their ancestors, who achieved truly great labor and military victories, and today they understand that this legacy is sacred.

"Such deep feelings are difficult to express in words, but they are understandable and close to each of us. At this difficult time for Russia, they unite our society and serve as reliable support for our heroes, the participants of the special military operation [in Ukraine]," Putin said.

Putin emphasized that the Russian people are faithful to their legacy, adding that "the best proof of this is the outstanding citizens of Russia who today receive the Gold Stars of Heroes of Labor and the badges of laureates of the State Prize [of the Russian Federation]".

"You are doing a lot to educate the younger generation about strong moral values, ideals of patriotism and civic consciousness, rich cultural and spiritual heritage. You are strengthening your ranks by attracting energetic and caring people who feel personally involved in the future of their country," a representative of the Presidential Executive Office read out Putin's greeting at the opening of the All-Russian Patriotic Forum.

The event, which will take place from June 12 to 14 at the Victory Museum in Moscow, will feature interactive thematic platforms, meetings with the participants of the special military operation in Ukraine, as well as speeches by officials and prominent public figures from various spheres.
