"A number of telegram channels are spreading false information about the Ukrainian armed forces breaking into the Shebekinsky direction at night. The operational headquarters officially declares that this information is false and does not correspond to reality. The situation in the Shebekinsky district is difficult at the moment, shelling is underway, sounds of battle are heard. Russian armed forces are working, but there is no breakthrough of Ukraine's armed forces," the operational headquarters said in a statement.
Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed that there had been no breakthrough of the Ukrainian forces to the region, but eight people were injured due to the shelling.
"There is a continuous shelling of the Shebekinsky district by the Ukrainian armed forces. Eight people were wounded. There are no fatalities," Gladkov said on Telegram.
The governor added that the shelling complicated the evacuation of civilians.
Belgorod as well as other border areas has been witnessing the spillover of the military operation that Russia launched in Ukraine in February 2022.
