The Algerian teams won first prizes in the Cloud and Network categories during the international Huawei ICT competition held in China's Shenzhen. Another team from the North African country came in second in the category of Computing.
The winners received congratulations from several government figures, starting with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune expressing his acknowledgement of their success on social media.
"Congratulations to our students from the universities and schools of Batna, Bejaia, Algiers, Algiers 1, Blida, Saida, Sidi Bel Abbès, Oran and Tlemcen, for winning the first and second places in the international technology competition in Shenzhen, China," he wrote.
Africa in full force
Other African countries left a strong impression during this competitive event, such as Nigeria, which took home first prize in the Innovation category.
The Kenyan team, for its part, won the Grand Prize in this category. The country had already won several awards in last year's competition, which attracted students from 40 universities.
Having emerged in 2015, the Huawei ICT competition, draws together students from all over the world to compete healthily and exchange ideas centered around new technologies. The 2023 event attracted 120,000 students from more than 2,000 universities and colleges, from 74 countries and regions worldwide. The competition is supported by the famous Huawei ICT Academy program.
