Western Countries Want to Keep Africa Enslaved, Ugandan Envoy Says

Uganda and Russia have historically maintained good diplomatic relations since the two countries established formal ties in 1962, just after Uganda gained independence from Britain. Over the years, the relationship has been defined by mutual respect and cooperation in various areas, such as trade, defense, and education.

Western countries want to keep the Africans enslaved, as they "traditionally" colonized Africa to rob the continent out of its resources, said Uganda’s ambassador to Russia Moses Kawaaluuko Kizige.

"Traditionally, the Western countries colonized Africa... Even before they colonized Africa, they took Africans as slaves to provide free manpower. Then they colonized Africa to take away our mineral resources, so they want to keep us enslaved. That is why they always want to force us into positions," the ambassador explained in an interview with RT.

Contemplating on the role of Russia in Uganda's history, the ambassador argued that Russia (then the Soviet Union) helped his country in its fight for independence.

"They’ve always been with us," said Kizige on Russia's role in the Ugandan fight for its independence in the 1960s.

Earlier in March, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni highlighted the value of cooperation with Russia for his country, noting that in the past Kampala had "a very good relationship with the Soviet Union, and now we have a very good relationship with Russia."
