The building caved in on Nigeria's Banana Island, trapping many people in the rubble, according to the Lagos emergency management agency.
Seven people were saved from the wreckage and hospitalized with minor wounds. One person remains missing. There are no fatalities reported as of now.
The building was under construction and all of the injured people were construction workers, the statement said.
According to authorities, the six-story building collapse occurred "as a result of a truck that ran into the building."
Moreover, the authorities noted that they had conducted an investigation and claimed that there were no proper permits for the construction.
Building collapses are common in Lagos, one of the most densely populated places in Africa, according to local media. For instance, on November 1, 2021, a 21-storey building Ikoyi, Lagos State, collapsed.
