Netizens have lashed out at Maitre Gims because of a video in which he claimed that the pyramids of the ancient pharaohs were really used for transmitting radio electromagnetic waves.
"In the age of the Empire of Kush [from the 8th century BC] there was electricity, the pyramids you see there had gold on their peaks, gold is the best conductor of electricity," Gims said. "They were effing antennas... people don't understand that."
In that program, the rapper also asserted that "the science the Egyptians had is beyond understanding and historians know it."
However, neither his audience nor social media users appeared to appreciate the claims of the 36-year-old musical artist.

"I like some of his songs, but from there to affirm that at that time there was electricity, especially in Europe, I have a serious doubt," one user commented.
"Your next episode, you will find that the earth is flat," a user tweeted.
"We're waiting for the justification on 5G at the top of the pyramids," another netizen replied.
Taking a more serious tone, disinformation specialist Tristan Mendes France recalled on Twitter that Gims has "three million Twitter followers, 11 million on Facebook, 11 million on YouTube,"
adding "Most of them young people who see him as a role model. And who will hear this."

Some social media users replied to Gims by posting images from the 1994 movie Stargate, in which the pyramids function as landing pads for alien spaceships.
Gims was born in Congo in 1986 to a family of musicians, but has lived most of his life in France. Gims became famous in 2013 for his first album Subliminal, which sold over a million copies in France.
