'United Against Double Standards': Russia & Equatorial Guinea Mark 57 Years of Diplomatic Ties
The two nations have a history of "traditionally friendly ties" and high-level political dialogue, according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry. This includes President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo's visit to Moscow in September 2024.
Moscow and Malabo are united by common views favoring a "polycentric model of the world order," rejecting "dictation and double standards" in international relations, and supporting the right of nations to determine their own development paths, the statement emphasized.
Practical cooperation includes Russia's assistance in training more than a thousand Equatorial Guinean specialists since 1968. A significant step in 2024 was the reopening of the Russian Embassy in Malabo, the ministry noted.
